About Us

Simek Realty is the brainchild of Doug Simek, who wanted to use his knowledge and skills for the betterment of its investment partners and provide creative solutions for real estate owners. A financial analyst and real estate investment manager with a keen eye for opportunities around the Twin Cities, Doug has experienced nearly two decades of ups and downs in the real estate market and feels there are always opportunities for the careful investor.

Simek Realty's investments span the Twin Cities and include rehab and redevelopment projects. Our success has been based upon using old school principles of investing in real estate. We work with seasoned investors who want to diversify their portfolios and can help them understand the value of real estate investing. Working with us, you can expect straightforward communication, integrity, and in-depth knowledge of the real estate market in the Twin Cities.

Recently in 2007, after earning his MBA, Doug worked as a Development Manager on the final construction of a 262 unit Class A apartment community in Washington D.C. with a total development cost of $120M. He also oversaw the property management of a 577 unit apartment community pending its redevelopment.

Doug returned to the Twin Cities in 2008 and began buying, rehabbing, renting and selling foreclosed rental properties and single family homes. Doug combines a love of the leverage available in real estate investing with both a conservative and contrarian philosophy. Doug holds a degree in Economics from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA from American University in Washington D.C.

A Family Tradition

Doug has been involved in real estate for most of his life including participating in his family's real estate and management business. The Simek family has been involved in local real estate investment and rental properties around the Twin Cities for the past four decades.
